Surgical Services
When you need surgery, it can be a stressful and emotional time for you and your loved ones. At Navarro Regional Hospital, we provide surgical care, advanced technology and knowledgeable and experienced surgeons. Many of the procedures are available on a same-day, outpatient basis.
Our surgical facilities include the Day Surgery Center, OR and post-anesthesia care unit.
Remember:
- Register, confirm your appointment day and time and provide insurance information to the registration department before your procedure.
- Do not drink or eat anything at least eight hours prior to surgery, unless otherwise directed.
- Follow your doctor’s instructions for surgery preparation, including which medications you should stop taking before the surgery.
- Remember to mention any blood thinners, diet pills or diabetes medications.
- Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must remain at the hospital for the duration of the patient’s procedure. Space is limited, so we ask that visitors be kept to a minimum.
- Wear loose-fitting clothing and leave all jewelry and valuables at home.
- All patients must coordinate a ride home after surgery.
- Stop taking all herbal and dietary supplements at least one week prior to surgery.
Day Surgery Center procedures:
When you’re admitted for outpatient surgery, you will be taken to a holding room and asked to put on a hospital gown. You will also be asked about your medical history and administered an IV. You will then meet with the surgery team to go over information and ask questions as part of our safety check system, ensuring you’re getting everything you need to feel secure.
After Surgery Care:
Following surgery, you’ll be taken to the post-anesthesia unit where the medical staff will monitor you. Visitors aren’t allowed in this area for infection control and patient confidentiality reasons. When you wake up, the nurses will determine your level of pain on a scale from one to ten, and then you’ll return to the Day Surgery Center for discharge or further observation.
Finally, we’ll send you home equipped with written instructions for post-surgical care, and you will receive a follow-up call within 48 hours to check on your progress.
