Ear, Nose and Throat (Otolaryngology)
Navarro Regional Hospital cares for patients with conditions that affect the ear, nose and throat. Ear, nose and throat doctors (ENTs), also known as otolaryngologists, work with audiologists, neurologists and other specialists to treat minor issues such as earaches and sinus conditions, as well as complex problems with hearing, balance, taste, speech and sleep apnea.
Otolaryngologists are trained in both medical and surgical treatment, so if surgery is necessary, your ENT surgeon can manage all aspects of your treatment.
ENT services include treatment for:
- Sleep apnea, including implantable airway stimulation devices.
- Hearing and ear conditions, including ear infections, chronic hearing problems, hearing loss and balance disorders.
- Nasal conditions, including sinus problems and chronic sinusitis.
- Throat and voice conditions, including swallowing-related conditions and upper digestive tract/esophageal disorders.
- Head and neck conditions, including cancer, infectious disease, thyroid disease and nerve conditions that affect sight, smell, hearing and facial nerves.
Sleep Apnea
Patients with moderate to severe sleep apnea may be treated with an alternative to traditional CPAP therapy via a small implantable device that can be placed during a same-day, outpatient procedure. The device stimulates the obstructed airway to open, enabling the patient to breathe normally during sleep.
Sinus Care
We also offer a range of services to evaluate, diagnose and treat nasal and sinus problems. ENT doctors have a broad range of experience to provide care for everything from nasal congestion, sinusitis and smell and taste disorders, to a deviated septum or broken nose.
ENT physicians on the medical staff often collaborate with specialists in allergy and immunology, neurology and other specialties to deliver care through services such as:
- Balloon dilation surgery
- Laser sinus treatment
- Radiofrequency ablation for nasal and sinus congestion
- Septoplasty
- Sinus surgery, including endoscopic surgical options
